Recently we have had several customers attacked by ransomware. Ransomware is a computer virus that infects your computer and encrypts your files. Normally after all of your files are encrypted, it will demand that you send a payment to unencrypt your files. Basically the only way to get your files back if they are encrypted is to restore them from a backup or pay the ransom. Ransomware often infects your computer through email attachments. Do NOT attempt to open any attachments from someone unless you are absolutely certain you know where they came from. There are several ways you can prevent ransomware from attacking your computer. These include having a good antivirus program and running CryptoPrevent. If you are infected, it is important to immediately disconnect your computer from the internet and shut it down. This will prevent it from infecting other computers on your network and also from damaging your computer any further.
